Full Valet
If you have noticed a noise from your computer that you've never heard before or feel that there is more heat coming from the base unit it could be time to have a full valet.
A full valet of your computer, both inside and out, will remove all the dust which is the main cause of overheating and noises. Dust can also damage individual components with the build up of static electricity.
Computers, if in an office environment, will take a while to build up dust on the inside. The air conditioned offices that are cleaned every night are a lot less dusty than the average home. Home computers are subject to much harsher environments.
Long carpets, thick curtains, pets, kids all contribute to the build up of dust in the home; just think how often you need to down the tops of TVs for example.
With all that dust in the room just think how much could now be on the inside of your computer! All that dust is not doing the computer any favours and will soon restrict the air-flow so much that components will just burn out, maybe even causing a fire hazard.
